Oct. 5: These is My Words: The Diary of Sarah Agnes Prine by Nancy Turner

These is My Words: The Diary of Sarah Agnes Prine, by Nancy Turner, is a fictionalized account based on the author's family memoirs. The early history of the Arizona Territory from 1881 to 1902 is captured through the words of young Sarah Agnes Prine's diary.
Barely literate at first, Sara's struggles are recorded through crude, often phonetically spelled entries. As she journeys by wagon train with her family from Arizona to New Mexico and back again, she struggles not only to survive but to educate herself as well.
Not familiar with PC Reads? It's LifeLong Learning's monthly drop-in book club, meeting from 5 - 6:30 p.m. the first Thursday of each month. The program is free, but registration is required as participation is limited to 24 people.

Susie Nee, team leader of PC Reads, said the idea of a monthly book group grew from the success of last year's program to have book groups throughout PebbleCreek read Belgravia by Julian Fellowes and then gather as part of the Sunday Series to learn about the book and its setting. Many of the Sunday Series attendees said they would be interested in a “drop-in” program, particularly in the summer months, when the days are hot and there are far fewer events to attend.

There is no charge, but monthly registration is required and is limited to 24 people. Registration for October 5 is open. The books is Is My Words: The Diary of Sarah Agnes Prine, 1881-1901 by Nancy Turner.
