Candice Chavez, talented and charming local artist, has been singing for more than 15 years and is excited to share her knowledge of gospel music with our community from 2 – 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, in the Chianti Room.
In addition to a concert, she will discuss the evolution and sounds of gospel music through a video and photographs of other singers and venues where she has performed.
Candice enthusiastically says, “I enjoy doing this and plan to sing for as long as God allows me to.” She has done numerous talent shows and has had the pleasure of singing at many local and regional churches.
She grew up in Las Vegas and was thrilled to appear on “Show Time at the Apollo” as a young teen, winning the competition during her first appearance. “It was such a blessing to have had the opportunity to sing on a TV show I grew up watching.”
She currently sings for local events including games of the Phoenix Suns, Mercury and Diamondbacks and has been praised for her charismatic and talented interpretations of the national anthem. She performed at recent Arizona governor’s prayer breakfasts, a recent Rio Salado College graduation, the Phoenix July 4, 2018 event and the 2017 MLK event at Estrella Mountain Community College. She also performs traveling and backup singing for the band, “The Reflections of Michael Jackson Moonwalker.”
Candice attends “Fountain of Life International” and co-leads prayer under the leadership of Pastors Jon & Gwen Jennings.
“God opened the doors for me to sing music throughout Arizona and other states. I came to know that’s God’s calling for my life is the desire I’ve had all my life—to uplift the weak, encourage the lost and help the helpless find God in all his glory. To help all his children understand that he’s worth it all. Thank You and God Bless.”
Registration for the January 27 Sunday Series program begins on December 27.
