Registration opens Sept. 23

Fox at SW Conservation CenterOn Monday, Nov. 11, LifeLong Learning takes you on a "walk with wildlife!" Experience the Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center in Scottsdale with a guided tour. The tour provides an up-close view of the permanent sanctuary residents along with a guided story of how they arrived at the SWCC. We will learn about SWCC’s educational and humane scientific research opportunities offered in the field of conservation medicine, including advice on coexisting with wildlife and the importance of native wildlife to healthy ecosystems.

Lunch is included - restaurant selection to be announced.

Since the early 1990's SWCC has become one of the leading wildlife sanctuaries and rehab facilities in the southwestern United States, pursuing its mission to care for wild mammals in need and educate the community about wildlife.  SWCC continues to learn and grow, accepting the challenges that pass through our gates every day.

Once a wild animal is rehabilitated, they are returned to the wild. Sometimes, an animal that comes to SWCC is non-releasable. SWCC is home to 90 resident sanctuary animals. A few of the residents we will visit include bears, bobcats, deer, hawks, Javalina, mountain lions, owls, wolves and more. Some of our sanctuary residents have injuries or disabilities that prevent them from being released. Others were kept as pets and never learned the wild skills necessary to live on their own. Some of our animals were found orphaned or abandoned - never able to learn how to hunt, survive, or fear humans from their wild parents. When this happens, animals can find a home for life at SWCC.

As you walk with the wildlife, you will learn about SWCC’s educational and humane scientific research opportunities offered in the field of conservation medicine, including advice on coexisting with wildlife and the importance of native wildlife to healthy ecosystems.
