On Monday, March 10, at 10 a.m., Pebblecreek resident Gary Luders will present his adventures in Africa through amazing stories and incredible photos.
Since 1986, Gary has been climbing mountains which vary in difficulty and elevation. Traveling to Africa, and climbing Kilimanjaro were always on his bucket list. This happened when he took a solo trip in the summer of 2023 at the age of 66.
This amazing adventure involved climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, and traveling 6,000 miles by truck to 10 countries over the course of 85 days.
The highlights were endless, but a few top ones are: a caged shark dive, paragliding, 30 game drives, seeing the “Big 5” animals, rafting some of the most dangerous rivers in the world, bungee jumping, gorge swing, a helicopter ride, and seeing gorillas up close and personal.
The trip was made special due to the he friendly people he encountered. He was humbled by an invitation by the native residents to experience how they live in today’s world.
Luders and his wife, Kathy moved to Pebble Creek 18 years ago, and are full time residents. They love to travel, be outdoors, and participate in theater and dance.
Tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. in the lobby of the Renaissance Theater and are $5 at the door. No registration is required.
The theater is equipped with a hearing loop system which is a special type of sound system for people who use hearing aids. The loop system provides a magnetic wireless signal that is picked up by a hearing aid when it is set to the T-setting (telecoil). Many hearing aids are equipped with telecoil technology.
