Dave Sussman Birds 3If you have never been to the desert to view the many varieties of birds but appreciate their beauty, join Dave Sussman, Wednesday, Dec. 4, 1 p.m., to see their magnificence through Sussman’s lenses.

Sussman and his wife Dolores have lived in Arizona for 50+ years, 40 of them in Yuma. While Yuma might not come immediately to mind as a place to go birding, it actually provides access to superb birding opportunities.

Sussman developed as many sightings as he could in his photographs. After buying a birding lens his hobby really took off. He has collected over 200 Arizona species.

After moving to PebbleCreek Sussman continued photographing birds and was somewhat surprised by how many different species (30 to 40 at last count) can be seen from his back patio. The White Tank Mountains and Estrella Mountain County parks, and even the ponds in Pebble Creek provide easy opportunities for other bird sightings.

Sussman has given many talks with his photographs including the Yuma Audubon Society and the White Tanks Mountain Visitor Center. He will concentrate on showing many of the birds you can see right here in our neighborhood plus some of the more interesting birds you can find by venturing out into the desert and nearby watering holes.
