Teddy Roosevelt Joe Wiegand raised fist Picture 8 27 2024Come join us on Friday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m. for a “dee-lightful” evening with Joe Wiegand the world's premiere Theodore Roosevelt repriser.  We welcome Wiegand back to the PebbleCreek stage, just three days after our national elections, for an evening of conversation with this larger-than-life political figure.  

Joe Wiegand is a political science graduate of The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. Twice elected to head Sewanee’s student government, Wiegand had earlier been elected Governor of the American Legion Illinois Boys State and President of the American Legion Boys Nation program.

Wiegand served as a graduate assistant at the Center for Governmental Studies at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, before launching his own business as a political campaign consultant and public policy expert. Wiegand has been named a Wilkins Scholar, a Harry S. Truman Scholar, and a Thomas J. Watson Fellow. Wiegand served six years as a member of the DeKalb County, Illinois Board of Commissioners, and was working in public policy and running election campaigns when he began performing as TheodoreRoosevelt in 2002.

In 2008, Joe Wiegand, his wife, Jenny, daughter, Sam, and golden retriever, Faith, traveled across America in celebration of Theodore Roosevelt's 150th birthday and the final centennial year of Roosevelt's historic presidency. Performances at the White House and Roosevelt's New YorkCity birthplace highlighted the fifty-state adventure. Wiegand has been featured as PresidentRoosevelt in, “The Men Who Built America” on the History Channel, served as the model for the newest Teddy Roosevelt sculpture at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, and has a feature role in “National Parks Adventure” an IMAX film about our national parks narrated by Robert Redford.

Today, the Wiegands live in Medora, North Dakota, where Wiegand works for the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation. Wiegand is a thirty-two-year member of Rotary International and a member of the National Association for Interpretation. Wiegand’s annual performance tour ishighlighted by appearances June through early September in Medora, North Dakota, gateway to Theodore Roosevelt National Park and future home of Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library. 

Admission to all Premier Speaker Series events is $15 per person and can be purchased online or with cash in the lobby of the Renaissance Theater one hour prior to the presentation, subject to availability. Up to four admissions can be purchased in one transaction per LLL user account.

For online purchases, two to three days before an event, a QR code ticket will be emailed to the email address of each person who is registered. The QR code ticket is a personal code for each person registered and the printed or electronic ticket displaying the QR code is required for admission to the event. Will call is not offered.
